The Internet has become fertile ground for
criminals to engage in email and website fraud. The most common
practice is referred to as "phishing." This is where a criminal
sends you a request via an email that appears to come from a
business you normally interact with. Their intent is to trick
you into downloading Viruses, Worms or Trojans to your computer
hard drive or providing personal information (e.g. account
numbers, passwords, etc.). This information is often used to
gain unauthorized access to financial accounts, for identity
theft or to engage in other illegal acts.
Please note that Sooner State Bank will never
send you an email requesting personal account information (e.g.
social security number, account number, password or personal
identification number [PIN]).
If you receive an email claiming to be from
Sooner State Bank requesting any personal information, DO NOT
respond to the email and DO NOT click on any links within the
email. Delete the email and remove from deleted items.
For more
information visit "Protecting
Your Information" located on the drop down menu under
the "Online Banking Link."
